Our Streetcars Must Be Moved ASAP!!!
You have the opportunity to help the Phoenix Trolley Museum overcome an immediate threat to its future. We must move Streetcars #116 and #504 from the warehouse they’ve been in since 2017, or risk losing them forever!
When PTM had to relocate from our old Hance Park location, both cars were stored away awaiting development of our new Grand Avenue site. The warehouse owners donated the space and have been very patient in waiting for us to take them back – but now, the warehouse is getting a new user who needs the whole building and we are in the way! We are costing the owners real money and if we can’t get the cars moved, they may be scrapped!
Unfortunately, it’s not easy to move historic streetcars, especially without damage. We have a plan and a qualified rail contractor ready to help. But the costs of moving will probably be in excess of $10,000, money that we don’t have just lying around waiting to spend.
This move must take place before the end of 2023. If we are successful, we will finally be able to get Car 116 back on exhibit on Grand Avenue. Won’t you help us get it done? Your kind donation will go directly to securing important pieces of Phoenix history!
